Double ouch!

At least you've never dropped a transmission on your face ...

No, but I have dropped one on my hand before. The band adjustment stud tore a bunch of skin off my hand on its way down. In retrospect I'm actually quite lucky it didn't smash my finger bones into a million little pieces.

Many years ago, my friend Ron and I dropped the entire rear axle out of a 77 Mustang....

So...Ron is under the car after we got the rear axle moved out, and we had this thing (foolishly) on a bumper jack. The jack slipped off. Ron says:

"BOB! Get....this....thing...off...my...CHEST!"

I was actually able to lift it up enough for him to slide out. He wasn't hurt, but he sure gave me a dirty look. He actually caught the car by the gas tank with his hands. Not too much weight, nothing in the trunk. But good thing he was quick enough to grab it, and he was built like a linebacker anyway. I would laugh about that incident once in a while, but not while Ron was around.
