Default Decisions to make

My Father has enjoyed watching this OLD truck hang on to life. So much so that he has asked for it back. He wants to swap his 98 F-150 for it. I don't think I'm ready to let it go. It's literally been my hobby since the day I brought it home. He gifted it to me when he wasn't driving it at all and had 3 other vehicles. He's down to the Ford F-150 and a 22 Elantra. I still have a pile of parts for it and if we swap, I'm starting from scratch on the Ford. add to the fact that gas is $4/gal that 5.4 is a thirsty beast. He needs a truck to go to Arkansas to get the rest of his things, he moved to NC recently. RN the plan is to "loan" him the truck until we can figure the logistics of the move. He has a few things that wont fit in his car and needs a truck for. He would drive to FL to get the truck, UP to Arkansas to get his stuff. and either back to NC and eventually we would swap back. Either I go to NC, see my fam, and swap, or him drive the HB back to FL to get his car/truck.

Well, with gas prices... tell him you'll trade for the Elantra, else I'd call it "Indian giving"...

Probably at least as bad as a Jeep so worse than a cow.

I'd have to agree with Cadillacdude. A word to the wise...those trucks are a royal pain in the ass to wrench on. The 2v 5.4 is actually a pretty solid engine (save for the spark plugs stripping out the threads in the cylinder heads and the exhaust manifold studs snapping off) but gets atrocious gas mileage and access is tight if you ever need do do any actual work on them.

And even with gas prices the way they are, moving is moving. The f-150 might actually be a better choice since you could rent a trailer and get everything in one trip. When I last moved ~4 years ago my work was kind enough to let me borrow their box truck for the move. I spent close to $300 on fuel for the trip but not having to make multiple trips more than made up the difference.

That's how I kinda see it too. After I got it going and dependable, he wants it back.

That's what I want to do if the trade happens, but I think he has sentimental value in the Ford that I dont.

Yeah I know. He's had that hood up in my front yard more time than I can count. I hate haw crammed in that motor is. It sits real far back, under the dash. Most of the reason I don't want it

Most of his stuff is gone already. He needs one last trip for his heavy stuff like welder, and generator, and other stuff that wouldn't fit in the car.

I think that would now be Native American giving.

No - change that: indigenous people giving.

My family has a lot of Native Americans in it, Lumbee Tribe in North/South Carolina - even they say "Indian"
