Going to be getting the Mazda 3 some new tires this week, tired of the cheap no name crap that I put on it last time, these tires are noiser than the mud terrains I used to run !! Plus they were rated 40 K miles and we only have about 28K on them and they are down to 3/64 & 4/64.
Discount tire said they will pro rate them and figured I would get $17 a tire. So I told my wife, if she plans to keep this car, which she does, that I am getting good tires for it this time. I narrowed my choices down to two and want to ask others opinions of these two. Both tires are rated 90K miles, First is a Continental Control Contact Touring A/S, From what I see this tire is made exclusively for Discount/America tire. These run $114 each. http://www.discounttire.com/buy-tire...ng-a-s/p/19677 Second is a Michelin Defender A/S, these cost $118 each. http://www.discounttire.com/buy-tire...er-a-s/p/34362 Either tire has a $70 visa card rebate right now, plus I'll get $68 back from the pro rated tires. I know Michelin's are supposed to be really good, true tires, I've never had Continental's, Opinions on either one of these?? Thanks

I looked on Tirerack, the problem is this Continental is made for Discount Tire and Tire rack does not have the same tire, couldn't find any with the same tread.

I think you'll be happy with either. Just depends on if you want to spend that extra $12 for the Michelin's.

Well it seems the Michelin I linked to is an older tire and not available. I was on their site earlier and it's like pulling teeth to find info, they have a new tire the Defender T & H, which looks the same (although Michelin said it has a different tread), it's an 80K mile rated tire and costs a little more at $123 each.
I'm leaning toward the Continental, will see what the tire store people say when I inquire. Thanks for all comments
