Just finished ordering the last of the audio components for my Hardbody build. I have a few more items to check off the list before I get into doing the audio and interior, but here is the parts list..
Alpine CDA-117 head unit Crescendo S6 1200 watt 6 channel amplifier 10" shallow mount Dayton Audio subs (pair) 6.5" Kove Audio mids 1" SEAS Prestige tweeters The subs will be sealed and the system will be ran active. The Alpine and Kove are items I have had new in box for more than ten years. |

I'm not familiar with kove or seas. Or crescendo for that matter.
Did you go poly filled in your box? I did a poly fill in the sealed box in my car. It hits lowwww. What is your box design?

I can’t wait to see this one. Keep us updated! Will you be using a separate DSP?

Kove audio was high end US made audio back in the 90's and early 2000's. The SEAS tweets are from Madisound. Crescendo has been around awhile, still currently making amps and speakers for SPL competition. Polyfil is used to trick a speaker into thinking it is in a larger enclosure. I don't plan to use it, depends on the enclosure dimensions when I get ready to build the box. |

I'm more familiar with Phoenix Gold, CDT, eclipse. I've got some old school Eclipse mids in my truck. I've been using Skar lately as they seem to be good budget stuff. My phoenix Gold fanatic buddy (still competes SPL with his old PG gear) and one of his SPL buddies designed a line of subs recently. I've got a pair to try in my car along with some CDT mids and tweets.
The sealed enclosure in my car is already a little big. The poly was very effective as slowing the sound waves, really helped driver response and sound depth for lack of better description. I can push a little more power to my little Skar EVL65 drivers now. I'm thinking of going sealed in the truck. Probably poly filled and built out of baltic burch. I'm curious to see how you build your box and where you put it.

Back in the day I worked in a car audio shop that sold Cerwin Vega, Memphis, Kove and Autotek. I ran a Kove Audio sponsored Mazda B2200 for sometime and before that I had a Yota mini with Orion HCCA subs in a blow through on Earthquake Shredder amps.
What I really would love to find again is a set of Oz Audio 6.5" Superman or Matrix Elite comps. Some legit ones NOS. A lot of copies and fakes floating around these days. |

Hey, is there any way to improve my radio reception? My 93 has TWO antennaes, one is the mast on the fender, the other is in the windshield. My Kenwood stereo is only a year old. I asked about reception rating from the online salesman, said this Kw rated well. Ideas? Same thing at the house, metal roof, very few stations come into the house, has that plastic ring on a wire type antennae, pretty useless. Old school Sony receiver. Thanks in advance.
