Your Fluke Voltmeter or the Voltmeter in the dash?

The one in the dash, jp2code.
Think I got it figured out, Reserector. All indications pointed to an inadequate ground, so yesterday I checked the 2 that are in the kick panels for the headlights, wipers, etc. Those were clean and tight. Looked this evening and found another at the base of the steering reservoir. Pulled and cleaned it, and also cleaned the blade terminal on the temperature sending unit, which had a nice buildup of corrosion on it. One of the items I did today seemed to solve the problem.

received and installed my mudflaps and new taillights today. had to cut the flaps down a bunch, and they’re still super low and drag on bumps but they made the truck look so much better imo. i’ll post pics later.

Sounds like how I did the flaps on my car. They sit a little over an inch off the tarmac. I call them my early warning system. Those will scrape and amount horrible long before I'm in real danger of scuffing the rest of the car on the dirt.

Paid 2400 for the Coleman tent trailer three weeks ago, and sold it today for 2500 to a really TALL lady from Wenatchee. Turns out she used to play pro basketball in Europe and was a member of the Turkish National BB team, although she is US-born. She came driving up in a brand-new Toyota Land Cruiser with all the options. Must have been more than 50K with all the options. We are talking Fully Loaded as they say.
She was real nice. Told me she was just going to drop it at some RV repair place and have them go through it from top to bottom and restore it. Fine with me. Susan and I took that trailer out on a trip just once hauling behind the new SexTerra and decided we weren't hot on tent trailers, after all. No complaints from the guy who bought the Teal Terror truck, which was good. I doubted he would complain about anything. When he bought it, there was absolutely nothing wrong with it. Everything worked as it should. It has been a transition getting used to the Xterra because of the options and the power it has in that amazing 4.0 liter six banger engine. You have to watch the gas pedal. It likes to jump out on you at stop signs, sort of like a thoroughbred horse leaving the starting gate. I kid you not. These things have power to spare. Rated at about 260 HP. I'm happy with it, but I miss the simplicity of the 97 truck. It never let me down no matter where I went with it, no matter how crazy the drive to get there. WAY off road sometimes. But it always said yes.

Finally got around to fixing the cruise control. Never really bothered me, being used to cars without cruise. Heard common cause was the module going out. While digging around for some other things, i noticed the vacuum hose at the actuator was falling off and split on both sides. Replaced it, works great now. May be more of a placebo effect, but it seems to run a little better as well. Wouldn't that hose just have vacuum to it when trying to activate the cruise?

As far as I know, the cruise control does in fact work off of a vacuum signal.
I have no experience repairing cruise control components. I have only read in manuals that it works on a vacuum signal. I finally got the left side of the complete brake job done on my truck. Still need the right side. New drilled & slotted rotors, semi-metallic pads, inner & outer bearings and bearing races. I’m on vacation this week. So I’m going at a most leisurely pace! |
