Does it overheat at idle? I would pull the dist bolts and rotate it past its adjustment to get the correct timing and see if that affects things - maybe even figure some way to hold it down and drive a bit

I imagine it would if left idling long enough, but I haven't tested it. What would that indicate if it did overheat at idle? Fan works great, sucks cloth from the grille no problem.

Any idea what a normal temperature reading at the upper and lower rad hoses and valve cover is?

I picked up an infrared thermometer and the temps aren't as bad as I thought. These temps were recorded after 45 minutes of city and highway driving.

Valve cover: 150-160
The front of the head: 170
The top of the radiator: 165
Upper radiator hose: 160
Lower radiator hose: 100
Exhaust manifold: 200-230
Intake Manifold: 155-165

Seems like everything is in order and functioning properly. Still plan on replacing the radiator due to inconsistent flow observed.
