Default Air filter in Air Cleaner Housing?

King Cab; 4 Cyl 2.4L; Manual Transmission; 5-Speed Manual

This may be a dumb question, but should there be a filter in the Air Cleaner Housing? When I bought the truck there was nothing in there and I know there is is circular one in the Air Cleaner. The reason I ask is my truck was stuttering and started dying when it was idling today. I found there was a leaf stuck in the Mass Airflow sensor.

When I do a part search nothing comes up but a filter for the circular Air Cleaner. Should there also be on the box Air Cleaner housing and if so do you have a part number?

Pics? I know the older truck have a circular air cleaner but I thought the new ones had a square box with a filter.

You should not have leaves get into your MAF. That's bad. That tells.me.ypu don't actually have a filter anywhere.

I do have the circular air cleaner. The leaf was actually super small, but still it has me wondering if I am supposed to have a filter in the Air Cleaner housing (circled red in the attachment pix).

That's a PDF. Can't open it on mobile. Use someplace like imgur to host your photos and imbed them into your post. Makes life easier for everyone.

Doesn't matter the size of the leaf, it's not filtering. Think of all the other crap that can get through if a leaf can. You need to re-look at things.

By google.images the box on the driver's side is a baffle. No filter in there. The filter is on the throttle body. Something isn't sealing. Your truck is ingesting dirt and that's not good.

Yeah sorry. I was trying to attach an approved image size and couldn't get it.

Ok thanks for the info. I'll recheck everything a
