Default Dumb question..what side should spare tire hang from under truck?

I removed my spare tire and my buddy said it was backwards. My spare was hanging front side down. He said the backside should face down. Who is right?

I don't think it matters as long as it doesn't wiggle around. Nobody cares about it visually.

Front side down if you are low on blinker fluid.
Back side down if your blinker fluid is full.

If the front side is down, that is less turning you have to do too when you are cranking it back up.

scifiguy says you can carry two spares if you orientate them just right. Small ontop of normal I think.

Front side up will show less dirt when you mount it. But your buddy is a little anal to tell you that you did it "wrong". Mount him front side down,

Wouldn't dirt and dust to collect on top of the tire or would road spray be worse? May have to do a forum wide experiment.

Front side down:
* Fewer turns of the hoist to raise and lower it.
* Front side stays cleaner, and can be sprayed at the Car Wash.
* YOU CAN ACCESS THE VALVE STEM. When is the last time you checked the air in your spare?
