How do I get the Snap Ring back on the Lower Ball Joint?

I got the old one off by prying and popping it off. I can't reinstall that way, though.

It should go back on pretty easily using a pair of snap ring pliers. Is the new joint pressed all the way in? From the picture it looks like it is. If you can get one end of it started in the groove you can use a screwdriver and a hammer to go around it and get the new one to snap into place. Still, it shouldn't be much trouble. Once you expand it using the pliers it should snap right in.

I cant quite tell in the back of the picture, but it looks like the new BJ is possibly not seated all the way. If it is, like the other person said, once you expand it with the snap ring pliers it should be fairly straight forward and if needed you can finish seating it via a screw driver and hammer.

Swapped alternator belts on Hector after the other one had stretched 3 times. Went down another half inch, so should have plenty of adjustment.
Hopefully this will solve my low alternator output and higher than normal temp gauge.
Still gotta figure out why the auto climate control randomly switches from cool to heat.

Got my drilled and slotted rotors and semi-metallic brake pads today via UPS.

Purchase was from a local shop. So I gave them and their products a chance. 1 yr. warranty. Will start the front brake job tomorrow after work since the caliper piston seals come in tomorrow. Truck has been taken out of service UFN. Still need to check the 3 EVAP lines and ‘T’s for cracks or other possible damage causing the P1447 code. Will pull the bed to get a better look at those components. Was thinking about changing out the fuel pump too since the bed will be off and the screws from the fuel pump cover will be exposed. But fuel pump is working just fine. So I will leave it alone for now. All fluids need to be changed out as well. Maintenance, maintenance, maintenance. It’s a life style.

jp2code - You could also use a C clamp and place one end of the clamp on the ball joint and the other end of the clamp onto the lower control arm and essentially push down the lower control arm and push up the ball joint to expose the groove for the snap ring.

Meh...I will probably be told to post to the Xterra thread soon.

Since I am now hardbody-deprived. Damn it.

Well, I ditched all the interior ceiling lighting for LED chip bulbs. Lots brighter in the cab now.
Went to LED headlights but I think I said that the other day.
Someone used Plasti-dip on the front end and in the back.
That stuff had to go. Pictures below. Heat gun, whatever. My back thanks the Xterra for that smooth ride. The Teal Terror was killing me on trips longer than a hundred miles.
Did complete systems checkout and found zero issues. I will be driving this rig to Mesa, AZ alone in mid-October to do family business and I will be taking my sweet time getting there. Down through Oregon, Utah, etc. Woo hoo baby, we doing the long road trip this time.

Prior to the fixes, I took it on a hundred mile each way camping run from Yakima to Nason Creek Campground near Leavenworth, WA. It pulled that tent trailer over the passes easy as pie. Okay...maybe once I had to switch off the overdrive for a bit on the steeper parts. You know me. Mr. Cautious.
