Default Need speedo fix ASAP

I picked up a 93 a while back ago, and I needed to get insured. Only problem was that the transmission was from a 95 and this is a 93, so the speed sensor and speedo were cable connected, not electronic. As of right now I can ballpark my mileage and spin the odometer by hand and guess on my speed, but this will end up being my daily so I need a speedo of sorts. Any ideas?

My goal is just a working speedometer and odometer integrated into the dash, so digital guages or a dash swap is not out of the question.

For the short term a speedo app on a smartphone will work.

Some 93s have electronic speedos. I'm not sure what the wiring differences are.

93 gauge cluster uses a cable so if the trans is a 95 and has the electronic sender the cable may just be tucked up under the truck. You can swap the electronic sender for the cable driven one and the speedometer should work.

This. Just find a gear driven sensor and replace the electronic sensor.

The plastic gear on the sensors have different number of teeth to match the rear axle gearing. Save both. One will give you a more accurate MPH reading than the other.

Until you fix this, permanently... I'd suggest getting a Garmin, or other GPS, if you want an accurate temporary speedo. I run a Garmin and find it's extremely accurate for speed.

Probably at least as bad as a Jeep so worse than a cow.

So the cable is still there, is the mounting the same and I can just throw a mechanical sender in there and extend the cable since it used to be an auto and be good or is there something I’m missing?

In theory, yes. The gear you get might not match with your truck. If that's the case, then the speedometer will be off.

Is there a way I could figure out which gear works? Also I can’t find a mechanical sender anywhere I’m only getting the electrical ones, does anyone have a link?

There should be a door tag on the driver's side door with an axle code like HF35. Find the gear that goes to it or find a truck being parted out with the same axle code to get the part off of.

Sadly, the dealership doesn't carry these parts anymore.
