What little I've managed to dig up points towards it. There's a number of different things unique to the 33er's parts list I can't even find solid info on beyond a name and a part number, but my block isn't the normal 33 casting, so I dunno what they did for sure. Might not have even been during the full run. Nissan didn't seem to really think the ERs through in the same way they do most of the product lines.

The turbo 33 models for instance, have a wealth of information straight from Nissan themselves, and the basic 33s are close enough to the last version 30's that it's easy enough to just figure out if you know the 30s well enough.

Doesn't help that the service manuals (non-fsm) completely left the SC engines out of the mix, and the fsm isn't as helpful about some things as I'd like. Wiring isn't quite the same, 1/3 of the top end is different, and going by the numbers on the side of my tranny, it's a separate thing too, from standard autos. Been trying to track all this down solidly, but even the Nissan dealer parts computer doesn't give the full list of 1.5 fronty parts, I walked in with a part that had the number on it, couldn't pull info on it at all. 3/4+ are all discontinued and it seems like some dealers are pruning the info lists after the parts are out of production/+not in stock for a year or so. Or maybe it's Nissan proper, I haven't the slightest clue. I just know the info seems to vanish with the listing.

... Stopping, realized I'm tangenting.

So I pulled the heads off of the VG33e and the top of some of the pistons are pitted causing an ugly scratch in the sleeve. Looks like I might need some new pistons.

What main crank pulley do I need? Will the vg30e pulley work on the vg33?

Looks like this pathfinder motor has the oil pickup tube straight off the oil pump as well, no bends,

The vg30e pulley will not work with the vg33e crank. There were adapters that were available at some point but have gone out of production. Might find one up for sale on a pathfinder or z31 car site. They swap those around a lot in tbose.

I will probably be able to find one online somewhere I'm sure. Also getting the block sandblasted and powder coated as well as the intake.

Another random question. What's the purpose of the big flat nut on the bottom of the oil pump?

The bolt that sits right next to the oil pickup tube, I don't need to know what it is or what is does, I'm just curious. Looks like it could be used for a drain, but probably not.

Seems like there more than one type of crank shaft pulley, for the vg33e, or am I just crazy?

Which one is the right one I need for this build?

There are 2 different ones. Pathfinder and XTerra/Frontier. You want the XTerra/Frontier.
