Default Speedometer issue

So, for the past two days now my speedometer will work in the morning on my way to work, but on the way home it will randomly stop. I have both times taken the gauge cluster out and reinserted the little thing that goes into the back of the cluster and that seems to work. But only for about a day. That a good sign that I should finally just go get a new cable?

If it's related to the thingy in the back your needle is probably just fine. The plastic thing is probably slipping on the speedo cable it clips onto. There is a sticky in the D21 section about this.

Yeah thats the one I followed and it worked pretty good for a bit. It's not a big issue, but for now I'll just keep a screwdriver in the glove box.

My speedo has been off since I bought the 89', in ~2000. I now have a window mount for a Garmin... quite accurate and I don't have to "look down".

Probably at least as bad as a Jeep so worse than a cow.

I ended up epoxying the pin on the cable. It wears inside as it goes and no longer holds the cable end.

So the clip that keeps the cable in place just broke off. Anyone know where to find one, or just get a whole new cable?
