It might operate, but it will not act as an amplifier. The second stereo will only put out what it is designed to do as if it were hooked up by itself.

Yeah you can do it. Don't know why you would but to each his own! Just have to put the second receiver on the input you use. Volumes will be mis-matched

i used the rear output on my head unit to power the amp and the rear speakers. i got 2 RCA "Y" connectors and used them to feed all 4 channels. im running the sub in bridge mode, so im actually using only 3 channels but you get the point.

ok I think the amp is not giving 1000 or 1200 watts, I think the amp is the one that allows you to connect more speakers in a car

An amp does both. It take the signal from the stereo and makes it more powerful so it can connect to more speakers.
