Default Engine swap idea

So I have a 1997 Honda Prelude with a H22A4 motor. Can the H22A$ be swapped into the hardbody? Has anyone heard of this been done before?

I'm going to say probably not. The Prelude is a FWD vehicle and the HB is a RWD vehicle. You would need to a lot of fabrications to the frame and suspension to make the FWD work on the truck. Not saying that it can't be done, it would be a lot of work though.

All it takes is time and money! Hell, some dude stuffed a LS into a Prius!



If you really want to do a motor swap a SBC is probably the best bag for the buck.

SBC, or if you want lighter weight, an Olds/Buick/etc. aluminum 215 V-8.

Does Nissan sell performance crate engines, complete with controllers?

your first hurdle is going to be the transmission - Honda F20 of K-series transmissions spin the opposite direction of the D/B/H series engines, I dont believe there is a compatible RWD trans...

If I ever V8 swapped a hardbody, I would use a ford 302. Why a ford? Distributor location and a never ending supply of parts.

right, because the SBC is limited in numbers and never fails

Any ford after 96 uses coil packs instead of a distributor

My 21 year-old LM7 (5.3L Vortec) is pushing 400K with very little maintenance. There are a handful of known issues with these engines, but the repairs/upgrades are cheap.
Pretty much the same physical size as a 305/350 SBC. 285 HP 315 ft/lbs stock.


Find a donor truck or car and swap the driveline and harneses. Still allot of fab work, but by golly you'll rule the neighborhood.
