Holy shit yall. The dealership had one fusable link out of the two(or three??) And I rode my bicycle an hour and a half to get it and come back. It turns over...thank god.

I was reading around here and started to worry that I really screwed up the timing because I took my oil pump out to prime and a guy had that problem where installing his new pump threw off the timing. I might be off but atleastbits "running".

Now I need to figure out the rattle. Back to the fiddeling around I was doing....any ideas? I changed to heavyer oil, primed the pump manually with oil, and now I need to see if that works... be right back....

I couldnt get it to start again for a couple times. I took the battery cables off for a while and got it to turn on with the gas pedal pressed in. It was very shakey and eventually could not hold an idle. I think I'm gonna have to check the timing.

Look through this thread for help getting the timing right. It’s extremely important that you KNOW it’s right. It’s damn near impossible to accidentally get it right. http://www.infamousnissan.com/forum/...ad.php?t=33948

Wow thank you. But my tdc was at what would I be 15 degrees retard compared to yours. Now I'm very confused. It was most definately tdc at the second mark , just left of the outer marknkn the right side.

Nope, your right, some how I got it wrong. The oil pump half moon, still looked to be in the correct position. Truck is running well, so it must be timed right in regards to that, I still need to get a light though to dial it in. If I was off a tooth I imagine it would run like crap

I'm gonna run some lucas oil treatment through it and see if my tick goes away. It doesnt sound like the timing chain rattle anymore.

In the mean time I have new ball joints to put in, but the ones I have dont seem to be press fit, they just slide right in there with. About a 1/16 " of play. This doesnt seem right.....

Does the KA have hydraulic lifters? I know the VG engines are plagued by noisy lifters.

I beleive it's a problem with the KA aswell. The lifters are hydraulic... not serviceable.

I'm debating if I should wait till it explodes and rebuild or just buy a new head for 400 bucks

It'll probably tap away for the next 30 years if it's the lifters.
