Yes, in the USA a "core charge" is the sellers way of saying "I want a trade, so I can rebuild the old one". If you want to keep the "core", the seller wants $500. It's your call on this... also, how much for you to ship the core back? Or is the seller willing to help with this charge? ...just other aspects to consider.
