1990 nissan hardbody 2.4 ka. Ive got coolant dripping out of that little drainage weiner on the passenger side. Its summer and Im not gonna worry bout the heater until November. Can I bypass it? Also can a bum heater core cause a truck to run over half the gauge? Or overheat? Its also dripping out the bottom vents on the passenger side of the truck. If I can what size piping would i need? Or how have yall done it? I really really REALLY do not want to pull this dash apart in this heat. Thank you in advance! Oh and an update! trucks still running good and That hose popped off a second time but i caught it just in time! I moved the clamp up further and it hasnt givin me any trouble! But the heater core took a shit on me now lol

Yes, you can bypass it at the firewall.
Have A/C? If so are you certain it is coolant leaking, and not just condensate from the evaporator?

Bypassing it will not hurt anything.

Slight exception: An old-school action, if overheating slowly due to a bad radiator/water pump/t-stat, is to turn to full heat + fan + outside air, and open the windows. No fun in the summer, during a 500 mile drive (I wonder how I know; different vehicle).

Well its bypassed. and my temps are holding steady on half sometimes less, sometimes a little over it kinda fluctuates, but its not threatening to overheat like it was. it wasnt the easiest thing to get those hoses off. I threw a coolant coupler in between and its holding just fine. Ill worry about changing that core later. Thats a problem for winter Horse! lol I also had a fun time with the bleeder screw I dropped the god forsaken thing down in the engine bay and had to go hunting for it it fell and stuck on a lip on the block between the oil filter and the alternator I had to fish it out with a pencil, a fridge magnet, and some hot glue lol.
