Default Noise from trans/flywheel area

New clutch about 500 miles ago, noise coming from trans or flywheel area. Rythmic tapping that matches rpm, and only with clutch out. Just looking for ideas on what it may be before I take the transmission out.

Make sure the driveshaft isn't hitting the tailpiece shroud. It might have gotten dented somehow.

Did you also replace the throwout bearing when you did the clutch?

Probably at least as bad as a Jeep so worse than a cow.

Yes. And did you replace the pilot bushing as well, although the throwout sounds more likely.

When you have noise down there...and it GOES AWAY when you push in the clutch, this sounds like throwout bearing problem. Installed incorrectly or bad bearing, etc. Another possible is slight flywheel vibration from re-using old flywheel bolts. Most times they work. Sometimes it doesn't.

Could be something gone wrong with the pressure plate. They sometimes break "fingers" or rivets.

Could be the transmission input bearing or cracked input bearing housing. The input shaft stops spinning when you depress the clutch pedal.
