On the 96 you will get a persistent CEL if you remove the EGR. Not sure if it will kick into limp mode or not.

Your profile says 96.

You'll have the same problems with 95. Pretty much only the really early trucks won't complain.

Why do you want to delete it?

Especially because it is illegal to tamper with the emissions controls ...

So better to fix them.

I tossed that shit i the trash. Then i had my exhaust guy weld the cat return line shut. The only thing left is the egr valve, and that is because i have not run across a block off plate for the VG30i.

I made a block off plate when I had my intake plenum out. It was so packed with crap it wasn't working anyways. Was packed 6 inches deep and had to be cleared with a hammer and screwdriver.

Old rigs like yours (caddie) and mine don't really care if any of the emissions stuff is missing. Newer trucks sure do!

I can say from experience that my 1990 did not care that the EGR valve wasn't working. It was stuck shut and caked with carbon deposits. I replaced the valve at the same time I did the head gasket but it didn't make any difference either way.

I have a 96 and just bought a 95, ive seen pieces of deletes but not a complete write up. I want to clean the engine bay up and delete the rotted vacuum lines instead of replacing them
