Default What do you guys think I could sell my truck for?

I've got a 1997 Pickup 4x4 with the 4 cyl and a 5 speed. It's got 117,000 miles and the body is straight but there are dings and other cosmetic imperfections on literally everything. Mechanically though nothing is wrong and the truck runs great. Just out of curiosity what do you guys think I could get for it if sold it?

I would check your local listings to see what price range they are going for.. then base your price off of that, just a thought

Great looking D21!

I see you are in NorCal. I’m in SoCal. Like YEEPEE stated, check local listings for a range of prices of your make, model and options.

IF you decide to sell it. You should have a detail business give it a good once over inside & out to boost the price of the vehicle.

You're in California (right down the road from me), so you're probably well above the posters' suggestions for elsewhere in CA. I saw one on Craigslist the was beat listed for $4500.

Clean it up real good and start at 6K. There aren't many with low mileage out there. Make sure you detail it out good under the hood as well.
It's been 24 years since the last one rolled off the assembly line in Tennessee. There will be buyers, and they might be willing to pay more than it is actually worth.

Reason being...it's been 24 years since the last one rolled off the assembly line in Tennessee.

I just bought my 97' exactly like that but with king cab and 75k on it for 5k from Tennessee. Nothing mechanically bad but cosmetic imperfections. Like stated above, I'd ask for 6k and wouldn't take less than 5.

On these trucks, 'cosmetic imperfections' are a minor concern.

Mileage is GOD. Options installed are his assistant. No one cares about dings or minor dents on a desirable truck where the options are good and the miles are low. It just gives the new owner something to do.

Mileage is far more important than overall cosmetic condition, because low mileage determines whether it is worth it to restore the truck. Let's say your truck in the picture was the same, but instead of 117K, it had 280,000 on it. There is no getting around that, and this makes the rig worth much less, plus most people won't trust the mechanicals to go a whole lot farther.

It's also 4WD. These days, I wouldn't take less than 5K for it, and they can do some minor fixes and upgrades and the value will go UP. If it had high mileage, you could do the same thing but the value will not go up as much, if at all.

No one but an enthusiast will buy that at 6k. Use your head.
