Oh yes. The rubber was shot and I was 1500 miles from home. I cut a piece of garden hose into short pieces and shoved then in between the bearing and the bracket. Took a handful of zip ties and tied them to the bracket so the inner part could slide fore and aft a bit with suspension movement.

Got me home..... and everywhere else for a year and a half. LOL

I overlooked the straps. Duh. But now that I think about it, I'm pretty sure mine had straps like that. Yours is an early model like mine.
