Update on other years though, I was able to design my own check connector so no more back probes, finding old diagnostic connectors on eBay, or digging up old 15 pin cables. Just plug and go.

14.3 is a healthy voltage when running. Alternators tend to go bad all at once rather than intermittently, so I would suspect something else like a loose ground or a bad fusible link first.

Honestly, I would pull the other head just to be safe. You already have it half apart and you can save a lot of headache by a little extra effort now. Head gaskets are cheap.
