Rear mount KA-T??
 

Hey guys, I just had an epiphany... rear/remote mount turbo setup for my d21?
has anyone here done such a task, not just on Ka's but on any build? I don't mind boost lag because I want a daily that wont spool till 3-3.5k anyways.
If anyone here has any thoughts, please feel free to comment and let me know your concerns or tips.

The way I see it- No hot engine bay, no expensive turbo manifold, easy sneaky install, TONS of free real estate where the stock spare tire mount belongs.
Only issue that I may bump into would be the oil return pump setup... I'm thinking oil feed in the oil pressure sensor, or sandwich plate, then return to the valve cover or to the pan via a scavenge pump and a 1 way valve...

Also, I recently started making YouTube videos so that you guys can follow the build of my truck and my 240sx block. should be somewhat entertaining :crazy:

dunno - plenty of room for activities in the engine bay without all the complexities

just thinking though, id like to run headers because they look pretty- also id like to NOT reroute the AC lines if ya get what I mean. Somewhat peppy car with a hidden turbo?

anyone else well versed in KA24E-T builds? Id like to hear some thoughts!

HAHA! That was an old video but I’m glad you found the channel! I’ll be doing A walk around video of my 96 here soon, we finally got all the kinks worked out in the 93 hardbody so I’ll be able to post videos regarding my build here shortly! Also, I’ve watched whipazz’s videos and have followed that whole build. I’ve also watched quite a bit of local losers videos and have hit them up for a few questions I’ve had.

Yea I was subbed to Ronnie and Beau. Those guys bounced around too much for me. 55 "Projects" and none of them were done.

no one says it hast to be that far back. theres enough space to plub the turbocharger in like just aft of the front wheel. would kill a lot of the "distance" issues. I think as always the biggest issue is our dumb throttlebody setup

i agree, however i am balls deep in the 240sx intake swap lol, didnt wanna weld up a 90 to my stock tb. plus- pretty intake....

A company makes rear mounted turbo kits, of course not for the Nissan, I think Holley bought them out.

any issues with clearance between your hot side of the turbo and the master cylinder?

If you go with a bottom mount manifold you’ll get the pretty header effect you were mentioning and make heat management around sensitive parts way easier. Or ditch your AC and mount a centrifugal supercharger where the compressor used to sit and go with whatever header you like, that would be hot.
