Hey all, I have a chance at getting some "lego" style OEM rims for 31" tires, but my truck was equipped from factory with 235 tires and rims. Could anyone tell me what might be different between trucks so equipped? Was there any drivetrain differences between the 235-equipped trucks and the 31"-equipped? I vastly prefer the 31" tires, like to have a lot of rubber between me and the road, but haven't had any complaints with the 235s.

there was no difference in the actual drive train. just the wheels. they are a bolt on swap if you want the wheels. However im not sure that the 235 stock tire (235/75?/15) would mount to the lego wheel. someone else would have to weigh in on that.

The gear ratios may be different. 4.3 vs. 4.6.

Your speedo will be off about 5 mph at 60 mph. So in actuality you will be doing 65 while reading 60. The 235s will fit on the lego wheels but will be a bit smaller. Lego wheels are 7" wide and factory steel wheels are 5.5" to 6" wide.

Thanks for the info; I would be buying 31" tires to match, didn't even occur to me the 235s would fit the wider rims. I know the speedo would be a bit off, wonder if that can be tweaked to account for the larger tire somehow.
If I'm reading my doorjamb sticker correctly, this truck has the HG43 axles, with 4.375:1 gearing. R200 front diff, H233B rear. It's needing some TLC with the steering as well, been looking dreamily at the calmini kit but my wallet, she cries. ![]() |

You used to be able to swap out the speedometer gear to match the tire size or axle ratio you were going with, but Nissan doesn't stock those old parts anymore. You might find a dealership that has old stock on hand.

If you just swap on the 31s you will feel a little performance difference and probably a loss of fuel economy but being a 4.3 ratio it may not be all that bad.
Without changing the steering stops you may rub the chassis a little when hitting bumps at full lock. Oddly enough while David mentioned a speedo difference I did not have more than a couple MPH change and my speedo is more accurate now when compared to GPS.

I am running 235 on my rig right now, would love to run 31s, I believe mine came with 31s from the factory as with the 235, my speedo is off by about 5 mph, 70 I am actually going 65. the sticker in the glove box tells me to run either 31 or 235.

Uri, check the tag on your door jamb. OE size will be listed there.
