Default motor options

Im looking at getting some power out of my truck. I saw a few options on here and read the d21 vs s13 block thread and have a few questions.
I have the z24i. Im extremely familiar with turbo cars and motor swap wiring and hiccups( ive owned a conquest, turbo neon, plymouth laser, turbo mustang) so little things wont bother me
If I go ka24de route should I get one out of a frontier or will one from a 240 work or are those oil pans different as well? If I do grab the frontier can I use my trans? Or is it better to just drop a ka24e out of a hardbody and do the typical 240 intake swap and just low boost the motor? I read somewhere about someone taking the z block and adding the ka24e pistons and heads and a cam for a little more power? Anyone have a little more info on this?

I am in uncharted waters for me on this engine but think the z24i put out around 106 hp and the ka24e puts out about 134 hp, I think most of this was because the compression ratio on the z24 is lower but that is somewhat better because you can run more boost. I have not found any builds that turbo'd the z24 but I am sure it has happened.

I really only want about 200-250 so Im thinking with a complete rebuild on the 24e motor with 240 intake. A cam and small turbo ( mitsu 16g) front mount and fuel system thats achievable

The truck harness with a little moving of wires works fine. What year motor do you have? The 240 swap will run on the truck ecu. If you use the 240 ecu your tach will not work.

Hi Nissun,
I bought CasanovaGDP's truck back in 2016, The truck still has the Z24 engine so I can say that this swap never happened in this truck. I did have a donor 240 swap that fell through, so I never truly looked into making the KA24E work properly when swapped. The more I think about it, the more I am leaning toward swapping in a V8.... As far as your question goes I think you will want everything(harness and ecu) from the donor to make the swap go as smooth as possible. The truck trans should bolt to the engine, but that is as much as I know for sure.
