Default VH45DE/VH41DE swaps...anyone tried?

I was always curious on this...you can get complete, or wrecked but good Q45's cheapish, and the power would be fun

Plus, would want to keep it Nissan...instead of the default "swap an LS1" answer

i know its been done on a 240sx as i was very much into that. however the biggest problem for the VH motors are the power add'ons or lack there of. plus the motor is very wide and you may run into fitment issues. also if you are 5 spd and want to stay manual you will need a very expensive adapter plate for a VG tranny and have to get the bell housing machined as well. in the end for the amount of money spent vs power gained it really doesnt make sense to go down this road. hence why so many go LSX its easier and cheaper parts are really easy to find and making power is very cheap compared to VH

it could be more fun and maybe easier to go VQ35 from a 350z plenty of power and parts for those and you have a tranny that bolts right up to it. all you need to get passed with that motor is the engine management aspect of that swap. which enough people have done that it should be easier now a days to accomplish and still be nissan with plenty of power and sound good

I've taken measurements and it seems a little too tall without hood modifications. I looked and you can do the Porsche intake swap and it makes it look like the ls motor almost, I came across a VH in the yard, 308$. Almost went with it, but someone had take. Some vital electronics, turns out, a friend bought it and out it in his 240. I'm still scouting for the motor to pop up in the lot, I'm bound and determined to make it happen,

to 5 speed swap a vh, there is no manual trans that will "bolt on" you have to buy/make adapter kit. maz-works sells the best kit. i have a buddy who has two 5 speed q45's and just swapped a vh45 into an s13. the mazworks kit uses a z32 trans (which is what i would want anyways) but i think they have a kit to make the KA trans aswel.

I would love for someone to confirm that the VG transmission from the truck would mount up to something like that with the z32 kit. I think its the same bell housing but don't know 100%. I probably will run a z32 transmission in my truck because I need an electronic speedo for my aftermarket ECU, other wise I like my gear driven cable.
