Default 89 Nissan V6 question

I have an 89 Nissan extended cab SE V6. I'm wanting to know what V6 I have, and what the alphabet soup numbers and letters mean. Also are there any performance parts made or was there any interest in hopping up this engine.

Thanks in advance for any help.

You have the VG30i.
It is a throttle body injection system.
V-v6
G-?
30- 3.0 liter
I-?

You have a single point fuel injection system.

there is a guy who makes a carb intake for the 3.0 V6. he requires a good core before sending yours to you. the reports are more power than the fuel injection.

I saw that intake. I was thinking it would be good base for a multi port Mega Squirt type fuel injection. But if going to all that trouble, I'd just modify my own intake.

VG(number)(Suffix here)(Turbo/Supercharged if applicable)

VG= Family of engines V usually denotes a V type gas engine (V6,V8) G is the family Branch in this case denoting a V6

30= Displacement, 30 denotes 3.0L displacement 33 denotes 3.3L and if you're in Japan there is a 20 which is, you geussed it a 2.0L V6

Between the number and Suffix there will be a D and this Denotes a Dual Overhead cam(found in Z32's, Maxima's and Later Pathy's)

Suffix= Denotes fuel delivery/fuel type. The VG series is Primarily gas and the Suffixes are as follows:
S- Carb'd
I- Throttle Body or Electro Injection
E- Multi-Port Fuel Injection
P-(only sold in Japan on the VG20) Liquified Petroleum Gas or Propane.

There can be another letter or two after the Suffix denoting a Forced induction. They are as follows:
T- Turbo
TT- Twin-Turbo(primarily on Z32 300zx's)
R- Super charged (only found on VG33E's

If anyone has questions or would like to add to my break down feel free to do so.

What part of AL are you in? There's a bunch of AL guys on here. I'm planning to do a carb conversion on mine. Last time I talked to Mr.510 (the manifold guy) he said that there was a company working on a distributor that we could also swap in that would get rid of the electronic ignition and whatnot. My goal is to get the truck completely unreliant on electronics to function.

I've seen headers and a cam shaft for the VG30i but they are both pretty expensive. As far as performance goes there's not a whole lot. The VG30i is a good solid engine that will last a long time, it's just not going to get you doing 10 second quarter miles or anything. I like the VG30i because of the peak torque being so low. It's great offroad and for hauling.

I'm in Hazel Green, north of Huntsville. I had a 95 HB with the 4 cyl., and I thought it was quick for what it was, but this little truck pulls. A lot of time I start off in 2nd.

I'm into autocross, drag racing and LSR, not expecting world beating numbers, but I'd like to autocross, and LSR this truck. Although I know a guy who can help me with an LS swap. Or I'll leave it stock and just drive it. I was just curious if anything had been done with these motors, since the Z car was a V6 as well.

you can use turbo parts off of Z31 turbo which had VG30ET, still need to do a bit of custom work but Z31 parts are a start

Exhaust manifold would work? Fabbing parts isnt a problem, I can weld. I was considering remote turbos, or building a set of headers.

If I were to do anything, I find another V6 and build it while keep driving the truck. My current motor has 200,000+ miles, no need in really digging into it.
