Default what's that rattle? I found a solution

So my 2000 Frontier 2wd XE would have a horrible rattle only when I hit a bump and caused a lateral movement of the differential. The sound seemed to come just behind me and in the drivers side towards the bottom.

I went through the suspension as it was worn. I found my rotor to have play and all my ball joints loose. So I installed all new control arms top and bottom. New centerlink, sleeves and tie rods. Four new shocks. None of this helped.

I installed a new transmission motor mount, no help. I read about the window rattling in the door. So I order from Nissan a window channel gasket $90.00!. No help but it needed it.

So what fixed it?

Well I would drive with the door cracked open and the rattle was gone. So I took some electrical tape and wrapped it around the stryker in the door jam. The rattle was gone! I don't understand why as my hinges are not sagging and I feel no play if I try to wiggle the door.

But I am just happy it's gone. So in summary I spent hundreds of dollars and my labor to find out I just needed a role of electrical tape.

Maybe it's play with the door latch. Try the tape.

I've glued on foam tape from Home Depot to stop door rattling on my '98 (both sides) and also decrease wind noise (I did try striker adjustment first). I think I also wrapped the striker "U" with electrical tape or duct tape.

Luckily my 2004 has been OK so far.
