Default Engine thoughts

Hey guys, just wanted to get some opinions, in my 94 single cab I'm wanting to do an engine transplant when the ka finally gives up the ghost, probably not anytime soon, and I beat on it, but for a while now I've been thinking of throwing a vk56 out of and armada/titan in it along with a 370z six speed, I know sounds like a s@%t ton of fun when done, and I know I'm going to have to do some fab work, but I was sitting watching an episode of diesel bros and an old episode of roadkill came on and it made me start to think about possibly putting a 4 cyl diesel in it, but I'm wondering, I know nissan had diesels, how good where they? Where the n/a or turbo, and what kind of power did they make, I would like to put a turbo diesel if I go that route, if anyone has any info or websites or anything to look at I would appreciate it.
Current rides:
94 hardbody(bob), single cab, system, shit ton of mods
00 altima(wade), few mods, huge system
06 armada(bertha), 24's, system, looking to slam it

If you look for a nissan ud box truck those had straight 6 turbo diesels.

I saw that episode on diesel brothers. They used a Cummings 4bt. It's a bad ass motor but it stands 37" tall from valve cover to oil pan. I was thinking about it for mine but I didn't want 10" of motor sticking through my hood.

And be careful with the newer Nissan swap unless you can get an entire intact harness with all the computers regardless if you are using them or not. they get picky if the computer modules get split up. Just do your research before you commit. That VK swap would be soooooo bad ass.

The 4BT is also a really heavy engine, which is one of several reasons why I ruled it out.

The 5cyl OM617 I'm going to put in my truck weighs 585lb (according to some guys on PeachParts). A 4bt weighs fully 200lb more than that. The VG30 engines weigh about 480lb, so i'll be gaining 100lb of weight when I do the OM617 swap.
