Bought a 93 d21 recently with a no spark issue. Have swapped ecu. Have power to coil, power transmitter. New crank angle sensor. Coil will throw one spark when you turn key to on position. Then nothing at crank. I'm stumped.

I wish I could be of more help,..I don't want to highjack your thread... but maybe share some info..my ongoing issue began very similiar to yours.. we may have the same demon.....the strangest thing, when I took out plug #1 to check spark... It fired up right up on 3 cylinders... ... New coil, wires, cap rotor & plugs and ignition switch later still the same...
Except when I put an actual spark tester on the coil...then it fires up on all cylinders... Take the tester off, swap everything back & forth.. it only works with the spark testor?.. You might try taking a plug wire off ground to VC and crank it... There's something with the spark on these things,... It's like it's jumping somewhere and not.giving the full jolt to the plugs, so it'll stop somewhere....( I say because had the same issue as u.at no start times,....just a single spark... Good luck, hopefully someone will chime in and save the day.. |

I am only guessing....trying to be helpful. Was there originally a rubber cover that went over the dizzy and had snaps to hold it in place? Dialectic grease? Observe distributor in the dark? My idea is that the spark tester somehow is moving the spark " leak"away from the other wires, that this leak was somehow messing with your ignition signal. Let us know.Failing this, I would also suggest looking for an exorcist, I do not know if Japanese culture has Gremlins or poltergeists, but it might be something to research.

Coils can test good but fail inexplicably when in actual use.
