Hello. I need some help! I have a 95 Hard body XE with a VG30E automatic. New timing set, plugs, wires, cap, rotor, fuel pump, filter, fuel pressure regulator (x2), injectors, water pump, thermostat. No codes on the ECU(think it showed 55?). Anyways, after all this, I can't get it to fire up. It will pop off with a shot of starting fluid. That's it. I've got injector pulse, voltage to the injectors, new ignition coil(forgot to list that). One thing I have noticed is that I don't seem to be getting fuel through the rail. It seems like it's stopping at the regulator??? How does the FPR operate? Can I manually open the FPR?

I do believe there is a way to trigger the relay. When it comes to things like this, a subscription to AllData is really worth the 25 bucks or so. AllData has all the diagrams and testing procedures that are in the Nissan field service manual.
Have you checked the ECM to see if it stored any trouble codes? |

He said he got code "55" no codes. If it was starting before all the work you did than it is something you did, go back over everything you did and check to make sure you didn't accidentally disconnect something.

It wasn't running when I got it. I've double and triple checked everything. Nothing is disconnected from what I can see. How does the FPR work? I'm getting fuel to the FPR, and nothing coming out the return. Does vacuum open it?

there is a vacuum line going to the FPR, it's a pain to even see the FPR on the back of the intake plenum, if you lean over the top of the engine you should be able to see where the vacuum line goes to.
Can see the FPR in this pic ( Courtesy of Nissanut): http://nissannut.com/maintenance/vg3..._rail_assy.JPG

Yeah, I know about the vacuum line. My question is does pulling a vacuum on the FPR open it? No fuel is passing through the FPR. This is the second one that is not allowing fuel to pass through.

Can you remove the FPR and test it off the engine?

Yeah, I can. But, like you said, it is a pain in the a** to get to. Ill see if I can hook a vacuum tester up to it and test it on to the motor

I don't know if you touched the fuel lines to the regulator but just came across a guy on another forum that was having the exact problem that you are having, he said his 2 fuel lines were reversed, the line from the fuel filter was going to the FPR, he reversed the lines and it started right up.
Maybe the 2 lines where they connect to the fuel rail are reversed? Did you buy the truck not running ? You said it wasn't running before all the work you did, maybe someone else swapped the 2 lines ??
