Default General info, advise.

Hello, glad to be a part of this forum.
I recently i purchased a 1991 sev6 4wd. It is v6 5 speed. Ive seen where some people say get the 4 cyc, instead of the v6. Why? Personal chioce? Whats wrong with the 6? Anyway i love this little truck, and hope to get many years of service out of it. It has 205,000 miles. Also any information or insite on it would be appreciated. Im very mechanically inclinded. Just dont know much about nissians. I have a 2000 maxima aswell, with the 3000 6 . Would an engine like this interchange in the truck. Dont think so, but hey, ya never know. Thanks for listening to my ramblings.

I prefer the v6 over the 4 cyl. I drove a 97 4wd with a 4 cyl for several years. I bought my son a 95 2wd with a v6 and after driving his and feeling the power difference and seeing that his got notably better gas mileage I sold mine.

I have had both, a 87 V6 4x4 hardbody non OD automatic, a 94 V6 4x4 pathfinder automatic, and my current 4 cylinder 2wd 5 speed hardbody.

The 87 V6 got crappy MPG, yes it was a 4x4 running 33's, the 94 pathfinder had 31's and was getting around 16 MPG. that is the reason I bought the 2wd 5 speed. I didn't use the 4wd anyway. The 4 cylinder goes just as well as the V6, really can't compare though as current truck is 2wd and a 5 speed others were 4wd automatics.

Doesn't matter to me though I wanted better MPG and got it.
