All good advice has been offered. Let me only add this: Anything regarding plastic parts on these trucks is SURGERY. They are brittle after so many years since they actually stopped making them more than twenty years ago.

Treat them with love, and be careful. They want to shatter, to crack, to crumble. They are old.

He just joined this month, so he probably has no clue who you are talking about.

That's one of our site admins, and he sells used D21 parts for next to nothing to members on here.

I have a couple of those clips lying around. PM me an address and I'll send you one. I can get about a dozen more from the yard if I need any.

Update: I went to my local Nissan dealership today just to check to see if they might have the cable with clip that I needed.... this is proof that sometimes you CAN get lucky... There are 3 cables on the diagram at the dealer (Temp, Fresh/Recirc and Mode door). The Mode cable is the one that I need and it is the ONLY ONE AVAILABLE at the dealer and it only costs $6! So I bought two of them so I will have a spare incase it is needed in the future. Will update if the part is actually what i need to fix the problem.

I had a problem similar to this. The control panel from the round dash trucks has a much better cable system. I retrofitted the newer HVAC panel into my 86 and it's been working perfectly ever since.
