Kind of a weird problem. Have you checked any voltages? I’d like to know the voltage of the battery as it sits and then the voltage when the problem occurs. For the ground, you’re out nothing but time if you disconnect it can clean all the connection points. I certainly won’t make the problem worse.

Haven't checked voltages yet. Will definitely clean the ground. Is there another ground other than the one I can see in the engine bay.

Definitely a weird issue.

Thanks!

I should add there was a little lead up to this problem. Occasionally the truck would make the shorting out sound and not turn the truck over but not kill all lights either. I would just try again and it would start.

It still could be the starter itself. They very well can just die.

Okay so I finally got my starter ordered and shipped.

I'm in the process of replacing the starter. I've got the bolts out and the ground disconnected but that little clip is giving me trouble.

Any tips to getting that clip off? I sprayed it with brake clean and it's drying now.

Thanks,
Coby
