Don't worry about the spray bottle. I hit it with some oven cleaner and got it pretty clean. I will keep your son in my thoughts and wish him the best...28 is far too young. Once again, thank you for all your help John. You have saved me many headaches on this project.

I got it all put back together, just have to do the throwout cover. It was a bit tricky to get the striking rod to line up with the ends of the shift rods in such a way that it goes in and doesn't bump it into 4th when I tap the case down. Anyways, I am at the point where it spins freely in all the gears and nothing seems to be catching or holding it up.

The finished product. The case actually cleaned up pretty good with the oven cleaner. I put it together vertical with a couple wood blocks below the bellhousing.

A little too much oven cleaner on the throwout arm, lol.

With everything installed it shifts through all the gears just fine and the input shaft spins freely. Hopefully it will work as well once it's back in the truck as it does on the bench. I probably have about 150 photos of this thing that I've taken since I started the rebuild. I'm thinking they might end up in the photography section one day...

Glad to hear the news is good, I'm happy for you. Can't wait to get this thing back on the road. I'll have to bring it up and show it to you once it's all put back together.

It lives!!! It's been a long but productive weekend. I got the trans back in the truck and took it out for a drive. So far it's not making any funny noises and it's shifting through all the gears just fine. It seems to engage in reverse a little smoother too.

I love driving it around with the big shifter boot removed, really lets you hear it run.

A bit of an update: I've driven the truck about 80mi since putting the transmission back in. 1st and 2nd are definitely starting to wear in, it's not bring nearly as stubborn going into 2nd anymore. I am guessing the synchro teeth have worn in a bit. It seems to pulsate a bit in 3rd, I am guessing that's because I bent the dog teeth a little bit, just hoping the vibration won't damage the driveline over a period of time.

Also, John I might be sort of in your neck of the woods this weekend (weather permitting). I'd love to show you the truck now that it's all put back together and maybe bring you that case as well.

Cool man. It'll probably be on Sunday, I'll let you know. I'll be up in Blaine so I could take badger rd over to the guide pretty easy.

Headed up to Blaine today...should be done early afternoon-ish. I'll give you a call when I'm wrapping things up.
