I don't really want to replace the headers but i do want to fix the ticking. Can i just get the gasket and new bolts without replacing the headers? Or did you guys decide to replace the headers since replacing the bolts and gaskets involved same amount of work?
You can replace just the bolts. Nissan has some stronger bolts out these days that were marketed for the 300Z that might get you more mileage than the standard bolts that break easily.

They are probably still going to break again, though. The cast iron manifolds and the aluminum heads expand at different rates when heated, and those little M8 bolts break under that stress.

Sounds like a typical exhaust leak to me!

Its about the same amount of work and if a manifold is cracked the cost to replace the pair and do the Y Pipe again is more than a set of headers. You will likely have to cut off your down pipe on the side you remove to get it off the studs. I had to and Ive got zero rust or corrosion on the truck.

PB blaster is your friend. Soak everything in it for a week or two before starting on fixing your exhaust leak. I sprayed everything down with PB Blaster before and after driving it.

Dont worry about reviving an old post like this. JP and I are still active and it shows you put the effort in to find info without just making a new thread and demanding it.
