My D21 was flooding found bad pressure regulator found good used one in salvage replaced it runs much better but doesn't start cold. Will backfire slightly out exhaust with closed throttle just cranks with wot. I found shorted temperature sensor replaced today truck started at bout 25degrees had to keep foot on throttle to keep running as high speed idle didn't come up. Once warm idels Smith except coming to stop off highway. Will idle down till it dies. The idle speed cam lines up on top mark once warm like manual says but not sure it's correct. I let it set bout 3 hrs temperature here dropped to bout 19 this afternoon tried to restart it back to no start. I re sealed injector last week as it was leaking down but isn't now. This has only one injector not two like 86.5-88 years
Not sure what to do but need the truck to start. It only has 91.000 miles |

On your 1989, you might want to try pulling the codes.
In my signature below is a sticky with 2 videos of how to pull the codes. If you can report back with the codes, we can help you go from there. How did you "re-seal" your injector?

Could just be a vacuum leak somewhere. Cracked hose or something. But like JP suggested; start with codes.

I'm planning on pulling codes but it's 9degrees out this morning. Warmer tomorrow my shop is full with two pallets of concrete..
I had codes for Maf replaced that for running bad at idle hard starting. Along with injector dripping. Now fires up quick once warm out. Will post results of codes |

For some reason, I was picturing someone working with duct tape.

Hey, I was thinking. When you rebuilt your injectors, was there any chance that some sort of lube was used inside like wax? It would get really hard at that temperature.
Can you try getting a hairdryer and warming up the injectors first? It might not, but since that's the thing you worked on recently, that's what I'm suspecting. I just don't know why.

The o-ring is around outside of the injector it seals the injector into the TB cavity. I'm starting to wonder if the timing is slow. Sounds bit labored idling and seems low on power. I loaned it to my son last few months so hadn't driven it for awhile but seems down on power
