In search of a trailer hitch for my hardbody. Looking for it to be pretty cheap because I am trying to avoid spending $225 for the ones I have found locally. I live in the virginia Beach VA area and am willing to go an hour or two for a good deal. Thank you

If you have to go new, screw those local ripoff shops.
Here's the one I bought a few years back: Reese 44148 Class III-IV Custom-Fit Hitch $185 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0016KGZNE/ There is even one on there now for $169 with free shipping from Pep Boys: https://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-list...&condition=new

i have the one like the pep boys ad, but it was made by uhaul. with that style of frame hitch, you will be able to pull anything that the truck will move.

I have the u-haul one. and as a mechanical engineer i like the setup. shitload of bolts, great bolt location, grade 8 bolts. thats basically all you need in a hitch.

I have a uhaul one as well, I've towed a 19' bayliner with mine
![]() But I can see where it may have been too heavy, point is uhaul hitches are rock solid. I just pulled it and sandblasted it recently - painted with por-15.

Pretty soon, that hitch doesn't seem so expensive. You could also scour the local Craigslist and local ebay sellers to see if anyone has a hitch they would sell you. They can be picked up for $20 or $40 from the junk yard. It just has to come off a Hardbody, or the bolt holes won't line up. EDIT: I guess this one is yours: ISO Hardbody Nissan Hitch (NORFOLK)

Like this guy:
https://eastnc.craigslist.org/cto/d/...494788212.html I bet his truck has a hitch on the back. Contact him and ask to buy the hitch.

It's a decent amount of manual labor, but the holes are all there.
The most difficulty comes from the hitch using the same bolt holes that the bumper uses, so you have to bust all of those loose first, then keep the bumper from falling while you are under the truck trying to get the new hitch positioned properly and the bolts placed back in the holes. 2 people really helps!
