Default 95 p/u motor mount replace

I've got a 95 P/U 4WD 3L engine, manual tranny and need to replace the motor mounts. What advice do folks have on getting this done? What needs to be removed to get to the bolts?

The 2wd V6 is a breeze. Ask Deerhurst or Oldgreybeast. They have 86.5 V6 4wd 5 speed trucks.

My guess would be:

1) drop the exhaust system
You will need to do that to get to the exhaust manifolds.

2) remove the exhaust manifolds
The exhaust manifolds because they cover up the motor mounts.

3) unbolt the motor mount from the frame
Once the engine is free to wiggle around, you can lift it.

4) use a cherry picker (engine hoist) to lift up on the engine
If you still have throttle cables and other wiring connected, you may want to unbolt one motor mount and raise one side at a time, replace that motor mount, then set it back down before tackling the other side.

5) take out the bolts from the engine block.

If you don't have a cherry picker I think you could probably use a floor jack and a piece of wood under the oil pan instead. That's how I did mine but I have a 2wd 4 banger.

Dang...you v6 guys have to take the manifolds off to get at the motor mounts? That's brutal.

Both can be replaced from under the truck. Thats how I did mine.

Default 95 pickup 3.0L engine mounts replace, solved mostly

Figured it out. They're both accessible through their respective wheel wells and also by removing the skid plate.

Where to put the jack: There are two place where the engine can be lifted up from the oil pan, (1) towards the front of engine, right in front of the stabilizer bar and (2) further back under the oil pan drain. I found that using the forward most with a jack and piece of wood did the best.

Removing: There are four bolts, all 14mm. Two attach the mount to the engine and the other two attach a engine mount bracket to the frame. Once the bracket and attached engine mount are out, remove the nut from inside the bracket and put the bracket back on to the new engine mount. You also have to lift the engine, not just support it because the bracket has a small nub (roughly a 1/4" wide and deep) that has to be able to clear the frame. This should prevent you from re-installing the mount backwards.

Re-installing: Put the bracket onto the new engine mount. The new engine mount also has a small nub on it that fits into a hole on the top of the bracket so you can't install it backwards. Put the new mount and bracket in and loosely thread in the two bottom bolts. The issue I'm having now is how to get the engine to line up with the top two bolt holes that and finding decent OEM mounts. I bought some from a car parts place but the specs were off, they're C3 (cheap chinese crap) so now I'm looking for replacements. They were at least a half an inch off so I've put the old ones back in and these won't line up completely either but at least the hole overlap somewhat. The C3s holes wouldn't line up at all.

I'm now looking recommendations for new engine mounts? Ideas?

How did you get the mounts to line up where the mount attaches to the engine?
