Default Left front noise

I have a 91 hardbody 4x4.i was 4x4 mode and came to a place where someone put up a gate.i had to backup about 500 yards.when I got to going forward it had a noise coming from the left front and the steering wheel would jerk right slightly like it was braking on the right side.any ideas what it might be?

I'd check the hubs first off. Might have rocks lodged in the rotor. My aunt had a similar problem with something like 20+ rocks from the gravel roads she lives on stuck in the rotors on her pathfinder.
