when you have to open the back window slightly to close the doors without slamming them

when you only lock the truck at mcdonalds on the way back from harbor freight, and not while it sits for 8 hours at a time at work, because i care more about those $150 worth of cheap tools being stolen over the truck itself, because that would be a tasty insurance check buying me a much nicer hardbody

when the tailgate is your stress reliever, because it's already rotted out

when you paint it rustoleum battleship gray and it looks better then it did in green

when you've already started parting it out, change your mind, then decide to fix it because even after breaking down once, it's the most reliable vehicle you've ever owned or known.

when you stop needing to change the oil every 4k, because it changes itself over the course of a month through leaking all over the driveway

when you notice there's a screwdriver wedged into the alternator brakcet, but decide not to touch it because it works fine, for now.

when the PO screwed a voltmeter into the dash and instead of being pissed over a ruined dash, you're thankful, because now you'll know when to start the truck after sitting listening to the radio for hours

when your old turd has saved multiple brand new acuras, a BMW 3series, and all your friends' GM cars because i dont leave the house without jumper cables.

when both you and your passenger have to share a window crank, because the other one broke and i lost the clip that holds it on.

when you de-bead a tire sliding into a ditch, take it off and inflate it at the gas station down the road, then put it back on and it holds air. more or less.

when you know about the rust holes in the bed floor, and resolve to do something about it after your foot goes through.

when driving at night, your perpetually blinded by stock height fullsize trucks or SUVs, because their headlights are at the same level as your side mirrors

When you have parts from '87-'95 making up your truck and they are all direct bolt in.

When you park the truck and a complete stranger comes over to just check it out and then wants to know if you're interested in selling it.

When you have to explain to your friends to ignore the bangs and clunks and pass it off as suspension noise

Some KC love here, When you have to remove the back speakers to lift and lower the jump seats.
