Default Rear end gear ratio swap

I tried searching the threads for this specific answer, with no luck. Can the stock rear end ratio, 4.11, be swapped out with 3.31 or 3.55 gears without doing a complete housing swap? I currently have a T5 World Class 5 speed tranny behind a 302 in my 97 hardbody with 225/45R18 tires. The prior owner that began this project kept the stock Nissan Hardbody LSD rear end in place. The RPMs are around 3,200+- @ 60 mph. I'm wanting to achieve a happy medium for torque and highway/interstate cruising. Thanks!

The axle in your truck should be a H190, the 4.11 ratio in 97 came in the automatic trans trucks, the manual 2wd truck also used the H190 axle and came with 3.55 gear ratio so I think you should be able to swap the gears but not 100% sure if anything else needs to be replaced.

I had to edit out the 'weenie 2wd' comments in the original post. Always bothered me.

I'm new to this forum thing. I recently bought an 86.5 4x4 5 speed with the z24i with no tach. and the writing on the door jam sticker is worn off and I don't have a plate under the hood, and the tag is broken off the pumpkin. I am lost and I don't know what rear end I have. Can anyone tell me? I Called my local dealer and they gave me a part number but still no dice on it by myself. Part number was 43010-31G51. I don't know if that helps any of you help me but thanks in advance

Look in your engine bay. You should have a plaque up in the left rear corner of it just in front of the passenger side of the windshield. It'll be on the inner fender.

jack up your rear end and put on jack stands. mark you tire with chalk with one mark. mark your driveline u-joint and pumpkin with one mark. rotate rear tire one complete rotation, while doing this count the number of rotations of the driveline. you will have 3 choices, slightly past your mark on the pumpkin: 4.11:1 gear, slightly past the 90* portion of the mark on the pumpkin: 4.31:1, or slightly past the halfway around the mark or 180* on the pumpkin: 4.63:1 ratio.

I looked under the hood and I didn't find the plate. And I didn't have a chance to jack it up today. Maybe this weekend. I really just need to know so I know which fluid/ grease to get for when I change it and the differential cover gasket. Thanks for y'alls input
