I always get the copper seals, they are only good fof 5-6 cycles tho. They do seal the best before worn out tho.

Gasket changing is extremely critical on aluminum pans....like mercedes, honda and BMW. Correct torque is critical as well.

So what are the thoughts on magnetic drain plugs?

they're fine. we have plenty of clearance to get an extended one and it wont interfere with the rotating assy. it gets a little hairy when people use them in transmissions.

I dont honestly see the need for them since the filter should be catching all that gunk but if you got the extra 14 bucks and wanna run one, it wont hurt.

You’re probably right I just got off the phone with the dealer same drain plug they’ve been using for years. I guess if it ain’t broke
