I ended up adding a mechanical gauge for water temp since the gauge doesn't give me any info. Mine runs between 1/3 and half but I also have a VG33 though operating temps should be the same. I've found half guage is around 190-200F. Thermostat is 170F. My truck usually runs between 180-195F depending on outdoor conditions and load.

I'd measure resistence for you if it doesn't require taking anything apart and you tell me exactly where it is. I've never worked on this component/system before. I don't want to take anything apart right now though for risk of messing something up this time of year (if it ain't broke, don't fix it). |

Saw the picture of where your needle usually sits. Nothing wrong with that. Might want to clean and detail out your engine and engine bay. Do it right and your needle will drop a bit for sure.
Use the Chris Fix method. 30 plus million views can't be wrong. Once you get out all that gunk, your engine can toss off the heat much more efficiently.
