Hey Infamous'ers. Glad to join the group. I've got a '95 XE 5SPD RWD, very close to chasing down the ghost that has kept it parked for four months. Fingers crossed, will be checking my MAF ground today. I should have known better. Grounds tend to get less groundy as the years progress, fixed a pile of wiring issues on an old Chevy C10 that way. Did I throw some parts at the XE? Uhm, yeah. I've always been a nuts-and-bolts wrencher, but the older I get, and the more I hurt, the more I start looking for the basics. Diagnose, diagnose, and diagnose some more. When the labor rates are pushing $100 plus an hour from a guy who kinda remembers, you've got to do your own work. Code readers and flashing OBD1 light sequences can be helpful, but its easy to become complacent and condemn the part. I had hoped to find a 24079-40F00 plug and play harness, though it appears that they're made of Unobtainium these days. Not the first time I've encountered the Nissan/Toyota planned obsolescence plan. Wish me luck!

Welcome to IN.
When I got my truck in 2012/13 (cant remember) it had ground issues with the MAF. The ground was corroded inside the connector and on the sensor. I mixed up some water and baking soda. That with a stiff bristle toothbrush cleaned it and fixed the sputtering. |
