> I had to also add 4 quarts of 10-30W Mobil Synthetic oil to replenish the oil supply in the engine.
![]() I changed out the plugs, plug wires, distributor cap, and rotor. For my plug wire set, I used Nissan 22440-9Z025. These are supposed to be for the Nissan Xterra with the VG33e engine. I'm not sure why the part number is different from the VG30e engine, but they were cheaper. Also, I'm running a VG33e engine (with the VG30e intake plenum). For spark plugs, I used NGK BKR5EGP, also specified for the VG33e engine and not the VG30e. I started with Plug #6 in the back using a spark plug socket attached to a wobble joint and joined by 3 extensions. I don't know how I did it. Without ever seeing the spark plug, I was able to get behind the engine to unthread the plug, and then by some marvel of the earth's alignment, I was able to get that wobble assembly back into the area that I could not see to thread Plug #6 back in. Altogether, it took me about 30 minutes to change out that plug. ![]() The other 5 plugs, plug wires, and distributor cap & rotor took less than an hour to do. ![]()

My average MPG on Fuelly.com should start going down, but that's more because I drive the Xterra for most of my trips and use the truck more for pulling trailers - which generally means something heavy is on the trailer. ![]()

I was gonna say #6 isnt bad to get to but then I realized, VG30e intake plenum, not "i".
Vots, I get similar mileage to you. I wouldnt mind getting another MPG or two out of it but most of my driving with it anymore is towing, going up into the mountains or in town and all of those will suck fuel down.

It's not too bad as long as you have a long socket extension and a swivel joint. IMHO getting the #6 plug wire unstuck is the worst part.

That definitely took a while! Mostly because there isn't enough room between the intake plenum and the firewall to grab that wire firmly with your fist. All I was able to do was get my index finger and thumb wrapped around it. I feared I was going to pull the cable off, leaving the boot on the spark plug.

They're also great for unsticking those two little coolant hoses way in the back that run underneath the intake manifold.
