Making more progress... Ran out of dampener, need to get more for the back wall. Then everything but the firewall will be done in the truck.

Mine was made in May of 86. Some of the top end of mine is from a VG30e, so that may be where these valve covers came from. Who knows.

Yeah I've removed my cluster at least a dozen times in the past two weeks or so trying to fix it. After seeing the work that dvdswan has done with his custom cluster I'm tempted to do something similar.

That looks like a lot of work, Gordo. I'd still like to do mine, but seeing all that doesn't make me anxious to start.

I took the plastic piece out and put a thin layer of epoxy on the inside incase the slipping had worn it away. Seems to be working fine for now.

so that explains the difference between the two 86.5 models............one in TN and the other in japan.

Eh it wasn't that bad. I had the interior out in about 20 mins, and maybe an hour or so on either side. Really not bad. I still have to do the yoga mat though.
