Default I think starter stays on

When i start the truck (ka24e), it sounds like the starter wont stop spinning until i turn the truck off and then i hear it spin off. Is this possible and does it mean i need a new starter?

Thanks Guys

It could possibly be sticking. You might try a couple love taps with hammer to see if that helps.

Yap, I tried hitting but no luck and it sounds really bad when the truck is running like a slow rattle (but not the timing chain), so probably the starter right?

the last thing that you want to do is chew up a flywheel from a bad starter.

Thanks guys, I got the starter out but now I try to add power to it to see if it will pop out and spin but it only pops out, i cant get it to spin. My truck did start so i"m sure the starter will do that but i want to see if i goes back in after or if its the current that keeps going. And also i took it all apart and cleaned it but one of my magnets on the side is broken in half so i'm not sure if that's the problem. Because the starter did work but once the truck was on it sounded like the starter wouldn't pop back in. Let me know guys, I really appreciate your help.

Just go ahead and replace it while you have it out. Clean the contacts on the wires really good and inspect the wire itself for corrosion. Grab a tube of dielectric grease to put on the terminals. This should take of your starter issues for a long time.

Have it tested. If it is staying engaged, it should do it on the test bench if it is the starter...

Did this just start? By that i mean have you had the truck a while and it just appeared? If so, replace the starter relay...
