Default distributor cap question, need help quick, thanks

Hello, I Just picked up a new cap and rotor for my 93 KA,

Removed the cap and rotor, put the new rotor on, went to put the cap on and I noticed the number one position on the new cap ( when cap is bolted onto distributor, cap only goes on one way), and the OEM Nissan cap is in the lower right position, ( when viewing from the side),

But the number one wire is on the upper left position, wires are on the old cap in the right order, 1-3-4-2

I know the firing order is 1-3-4-2 and the distributor turns counter clockwise, also noticed on the old cap (OEM nissan cap) that the number one wire is actually on the terminal marked number 4?

Is number one the lower right position on the cap?

Thanks

I got it,
Number one is upper left ( number 4 on the OEM cap)

Started right up,

I guess because the caps are made for different vehicles no idea.

I tried first with number 1 wire at number 1 mark but didn't start at all

Confused now, I've seen pictures and diagrams that show the rotor pointing to the lower right position for TDC at number 1, so why would me cap have the number one wire at the upper left position?

Oem cap is marked like this (below)

4 3
2 1

My wires are like this (below)

1 2
3 4

Is my distributor on wrong or something?

I think the 96-97 distributors are different from the earlier trucks. Seems like somebody has mentioned that the pictures I've posted of my 97 aren't the same as their trucks.

So if you were using my pics as a reference, it might be different

Thanks, No wasn't looking at your pics, yours has the coil under the cap, totally different.

Wondering if the shaft from the oil pump is 180 off or something, per the FSM as I said, number one should be when the rotor is pointing down to the right,

I don't know what's up, always something.

It's entirely possible that somebody installed it wrong and just moved the wires to suit it.

I guess as long as the crank and cam are set up correctly, the position of the rotor ( how the distributor shaft) is installed really doesn't matter as long as the number one wire is at the right spot when the engine is at TDC. NO it's not right but may be able to just pull the distributor out and rotate the rotor (and shaft) 180 degrees so it is right.

Engine runs good not like the timing is off, except for the other issues I'm having at the moment.
