In my 97 I've had to replaced just about everything. It's not high mileage just idiots who owned it before me I guess.
Anyway, I had a terrible idle problem until I replaced that little intake air temp sensor. I guess the guy who had this before me just snatched up the box and didn't realize there was this little guy under there with these tiny little wires. I replaced it and the idle settled down immediately.
Lots of other things have come up, but that one work instantly.

When i had my last truck it did the same thing. Unplug maf and it would idle.. Ecu gave me the maf code, cone to find out. It was the intake gasket leaking. And i bought a $300 maf before knowing.

Swapped the old maf back on and its idling fine but still doesn't have much power compaird to my father in laws 94 2wd.
I can feel very minimal "bucking" like its trying to pick up power somewere. Duno.....
Any ideas? I know there not power monsters but there's some loss some were.

My favorite question to ask when there is a issue about power....What's the timing set to?

I see timing to be an issue a lot, so it will be checked.
I can slowly "roll" into the throttle and there will be sertain points it has a very small increase in power (giving it the bucking feal) so I'm going to check the tps as well.
Any others things to check?

Went to the parts store for a timing light and I can't justify $100 for one just to check it(every thing els I own I use hptuners) so that's on hold.
But I'm thinking its something besides that, cause the harder I push the gas pedal the more power it loses. To the point were it don't even want to gain speed on flat ground in 4th or 5th. So any other possibilities other than timing?
Maf has good voltage out put to the ecm. I don't think the intake temp thing has any thing to do with it.
I'm at a loss.

Try a different parts store. I only paid about $30-40 for mine.
